2020 Cofrin Library Renovation & Use Study
A 2020 study concluded that a replacement building will be more cost effective and better able to meet the community’s current and future needs.
$96.3 Million in State Funding
On June 8, 2021, state funding for the Cofrin Library construction project was approved in 2021 Wisconsin Act 58 at $96,297,000 ($93,850,000 GFSB and $2,447,000 PRSB).
Final Designs: Fall 2024
Final construction plans are due to be finalized and submitted in Fall 2024.
Bidding: January 2025
We issue for bids in December 2024. Bids are due January 2025 with notice to proceed in March 2025.
Break Ground: Spring 2025
Plans include a target construction start date in April 2025 through January 2027. Construction phase runs 22 months.
Completion: January 2027
The substantial completion milestone is set for January 2027. Move-in is scheduled for February and March 2027.
Campus Restoration: 2027
This 7-month phase runs April through October of 2027. It includes demolition of the old Cofrin Library building, finishing entrances to the tunnels and landscaping.
