Building Site
A Grand
Entrance
Welcome to the heart of our campus, our front door and gateway to UW-Green Bay.
Much like the original building, this new structure will command the attention of one and all. The new Cofrin Technology and Education Center will be constructed in the space that forms the lawn, boulevard and circle of Main Entrance Drive.

Our best Footprint
forward
The center that's front and center.
The design of the new building Design elements throughout the new building were chosen to honor the interconnection of people and the natural world, acknowledging the First Nations people who are the original inhabitants of the region. The planned building site of the new Cofrin Technology and Education Center embraces the pastoral landscape, mature trees and plantings as well as access to main pedestrian paths.

What's
Coming Down
Clearing the way for the future.
Part of this project includes demolishing the existing eight-story Cofrin Library and the associated concourse corridors back to the adjacent buildings they connect to. Demolition of the library and concourse system requires rerouting of telecommunication, fire alarm and electrical services as part of the project scope.
Construction Site
To minimize the impact to campus traffic, the construction site will be kept as small as possible during each phase of the project. Although the fenced-off area won't be a rectangle as shown (more likely following the roads), these images give a general idea of what to expect. The projected timeline is subject to change.

Spring 2025
When construction begins in April 2025 you'll still be able to get into and around campus in familiar ways. We'll still have a turn-around at the front and back of the Weidner. We'll also be able to get into the Student Services door, and access the lower level entrance of the exiting Cofrin Library. Traffic down the main entrance drive will get redirected.

Early Spring 2027
After 20-22 months and the new building is built, we're going to have to make the project site fence a little bigger in order to restore some of the area outside of the fence to make final connections to the roadways and sidewalks.

Spring-Fall 2027
The fence surrounding the new building will be removed and a new fence will be put up around the old Cofrin Library Building. This 7-month phase runs April through October of 2027. It includes dismantling and hauling away the old Cofrin Library building, finishing entrances to the tunnels and landscaping.

Fall 2027
When the project is completed it will create an open space that's going to make the heart of the campus more accessible. The footprint of the historic Cofrin Library building will be reflected in the landscaping.
