Trainers
Training
From Within
You can become a dedicated trainer.
Our train-the-trainer courses have been designed to train individuals without a medical or emergency service background or who don't otherwise already meet the state-required qualifications needed to become instructors for new caregivers on core state-mandated trainings.
Make a Difference
Impact residential care by becoming an instructor.
Effectively and efficiently training caregivers is the first step in creating a culture of care for assisted living.
Becoming a Trainer
Standard Precautions, Fire Safety and First Aid and Choking courses are 100% virtual live trainings. Medication Administration is offered with two days online and one day in-person. You can take up to three of our four trainings in one week, maximizing your time.
Renewal Continuing Education
We offer flexible virtual options for approved instructors to get the continuing education they need to renew as state-approved instructors. Courses are available on an ongoing basis and are self-paced.
WIOA Funded Tuition Assistance
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) was signed into law to help job seekers access employment, education, training and support services. Our four train-the-trainer courses have been approved for WIOA funding. Legible job seekers may apply at your local Job Center. Visit the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development website to learn more about WIOA tuition assistance.
High-Quality Instructors
All of our instructors are either nurses or firefighter/EMTs. In addition, all instructors are approved by the Training Registry. Our Train-the-Trainer courses have been approved by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Bureau of Assisted Living, the Division of Quality Assurance and the Wisconsin Community-Based Care and Treatment Training Registry (Wisconsin Training Registry).
Approval Process for Trainers
Complete the Coursework
The courses will provide you with the program knowledge, training skills and training curriculum to enable you to provide high-quality training in a provider setting. You may choose one, two or all four core areas:
- Medication Administration
- Standard Precautions
- Fire Safety
- First Aid & Choking
Apply for State Approval
Next, you will need to submit an application to the Wisconsin Community-Based Care and Treatment Training Registry for each core area through the instructor dashboard. You will need to create an account if you have not already created one.
After your application(s) and payment are received and approved by the registry, you will receive notification via email and will be added as an approved instructor to the instructor registry. You may begin scheduling training dates after receiving your approval.
Renew as an Instructor
An instructor approval status is good for a maximum of two years. You may submit your renewal application up to three months prior to your expiration date.
Any instructor who expired more than a year ago must re-apply as a new instructor. Review relevant qualifications before you re-apply.
