GB Orientation is your first official welcome to the university.
Step onto the campus and join the flock. Connect with a treasure-trove of resources and crack the code to college success. Explore every nook (and maybe a cranny or two) on your tour. Make new friends or run into someone you didn't know was a fellow Phoenix.
Next Steps
1Immediately after acceptance
Set Up Your UWGB Account
Your first step once you're admitted is to set up your UWGB Network account and password. Your acceptance letter will include your UWGB network user ID and email address. Once you receive this account information, complete your UWGB Network Account setup by setting your password.
If you have trouble setting this up, please contact the IT Service Desk at 920-465-2309.
Visit your Wings Portal
Visit your Wings Portal and complete all "to-do" items. This is your "hub" to view important next steps and to-do items, such as scheduling a campus visit, signing up for your required GB Orientation date, reviewing on-campus housing options, placement testing, applying for financial aid and more.
Check Your Student Email
Check your UW-Green Bay email daily. Any communication about next steps, deadlines or confirmation messages will come to your UW-Green Bay email inbox. Get in the habit of checking your UW-Green Bay email daily so you don't miss anything.
Calculate Your Costs
Understanding your college costs is an important step in order to successfully completing your education.
Apply for Scholarships
Any admitted degree-seeking student may be considered for multiple need- and merit-based scholarships through the UW-Green Bay Foundation with one easy application. The scholarship deadline for fall 2024 is June 30, 2024.
Apply for Financial Aid
File the FAFSA to apply for financial aid. It typically takes two weeks post-admission to hear from our financial aid office. If you intend to use financial aid, please complete the FAFSA as soon as possible, or add our school code (003899) if you have completed the FAFSA.
Complete the Housing Application
The Green Bay campus is the only UW-Green Bay campus that offers on-campus housing. If you're a Green Bay student and you intend to live on campus, complete your housing application right away.
2One Month Prior to GB Orientation
Accept the Payment Agreement
You will not be able to register for classes without first completing this step.
Submit Your ID Photo Online
Skip the photo line at GB Orientation by submitting your photo ahead of time. Be sure to check photo guidelines and have a government-issued photo ID ready.
Math Placement Testing
All incoming freshmen are required to take the Wisconsin Mathematics Placement Test prior to registering at UW-Green Bay, or within their first semester. Sign up online after March 15.
Review Class Learning Options
Whether it's online, in-person, or a hybrid blend of the two, there a here are a variety of modalities available to take your classes based on how you learn best.
Explore the Academic Catalog
The catalog is more than just a list of classes and programs. It’s an official record of all the requirements needed for you to complete your degree and graduate. It contains various policies, academic programs, degree requirements, general education requirements, course descriptions and major/minor requirements.
3Prior to your first day of classes
Get Your Books
You'll be responsible for getting your course materials required for the class. If you don't have your materials, you could risk falling behind.
Get Familiar with Online Learning
UW-Green Bay uses a digital learning environment called Canvas for online learning. Even in-person classes can use the platform as a part of the coursework, so it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the platform.
Explore Resources
Become familiar with all the resources available to you to support your success in your first semester and through graduation. This includes course tutoring, writing assistance, and the Student Services Center. Call the Student Services Center at 920-465-2111 when you are not sure which resource is best to help you navigate whatever is thrown your way during your time at UW-Green Bay.
The Student Information System (SIS) is your key to college. It's where you can complete many tasks, like checking grades and registering for classes.
Set Up Accessibility Accommodations
Students with a documented learning or physical disability may apply for special academic or living accommodations. If applicable, set up these accommodations with Student Accessibility Services.
This might be your first time on your own. If something happens to you, it's important to have a person to contact.
Parking (Green Bay campus only)
Students at the Green Bay campus with at least one in-person class are automatically charged for parking in SIS. If a parking permit isn't needed, students can opt out.
Finalize Your Financial Plan
Log in to the Student Information System (SIS) to see your financials. Need help figuring out how to pay for college, or have a question on the status of your financial aid? Call the Student Services Center at 920-465-2111.
