AmeriCorps VISTA
Make a Real
Impact
Through AmeriCorps VISTA, you can tackle poverty in your community.
With the help of Campus Compact, this program brings together higher education institutions and their partners to tackle poverty right in our community. You'll help create and support programs that make a difference in education, healthy futures, economic opportunity, and for Veterans and military families. Note: We are not currently accepting applications at this time.
Reap the Benefits
This position is full-time, although part-time outside employment is allowed and college courses or other training can be undertaken as part of the VISTA’s service hours when appropriate.
Serve Your Community
Serve your community by supporting a mission of civic engagement and youth development, as well as fighting inequality by supporting student success and capacity building.
Develop Professionally
Build your resume and network with a variety of companies, nonprofits and agencies in Brown County. You'll also obtain “non-competitive” eligibility, which makes it easier to secure positions with the Federal Government.
Earn Money
Although this is a volunteer opportunity, there is a $513.94 stipend every 2 weeks, and you can use the $6,195 Education Award given at the end of the year of service for graduate school. Campus Housing is also included, along with access to parking, gym and other campus amenities.
