Kognito Training
Conversations Change Lives
Gain tools to help yourself or someone in need of additional support.
Kognito is an online avatar based simulation for students, staff and faculty to learn new skills for giving support and referring someone to services on campus. The training provides the opportunity to practice talking with a student about their experience and provide support. During the conversation, you can choose different responses to see how your choices impact the conversation and get feedback in real time. To participate in the Kognito online course, sign in with your UW-Green Bay email and password and complete DUO authentication. Students should select the "student" course. Faculty and staff should select the "faculty" course.
What is Kognito?
The Kognito simulation is designed to enhance the mental health literacy of all individuals who work with distress. The interactive simulation provides practice conversations through role-plays with virtual students and may be completed at the user's desired pace. Our mission is to help college students improve their mental health while supporting administrators and staff in their efforts to create safe campuses which foster an inclusive community.
The simulation teaches users how to recognize the signs of emotional distress, initiate a conversation leveraging evidence-based communication strategies and how to make a referral to support services.
Kognito Modules
Kognito offers a variety of experiential learning simulations that give users the confidence to start more conversations around complex topics such as mental health, substance use, sexual misconduct and suicide prevention. Currently, the following modules are available.
