Michelle Gauger MS, LPC, CSAC is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor and the Executive Director of University Wellness and Student Counseling Services.

Michelle provides clinical and administrative supervision to the counselors and UW-Green Bay front desk staff as well as general oversight to Wellness Center operations. She may provide individual counseling to students on a limited basis related to concerns such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship issues, substance abuse, trauma and grief as well as other issues that may be getting in someone’s way. She is a dedicated ally to the LGBTQIA2S+ community and offers gender affirming care.

Michelle obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from UW-Stevens Point and a Master’s Degree from UW-Milwaukee in Educational Psychology – Community Counseling.  Michelle has worked for several years providing mental health and substance abuse treatment in a variety of settings.

Michelle’s approach to counseling is person centered and strength based and depending on student needs will utilize Motivation Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy principles and strategies.
