The UREC Outdoor Adventure Center has everything you need to tackle your next outdoor adventure. We offer a wide selection of high-quality equipment rentals at affordable prices for students, faculty, staff and community members. Fill out an equipment rental request form today and grab gear for your next outing!
Rental Procedures
Follow the simple steps below to request, reserve, pick up and return your UREC Outdoors rental equipment.
- Make a reservation. Fill out the equipment rental request form to reserve your equipment for rental.
Reserve Equipment - Get confirmation. Our staff will prep your rental and reservation form during our regular business hours. You'll receive your reservation confirmation via the email address provided in your rental request. If you submit a reservation after hours, staff will prep and send confirmation of your rental when we next open.
- Pick up your gear. Equipment must be picked up during our open hours on the designated pick-up date. Our staff will assist with loading large equipment in/on your vehicle. Park by the Shorewood Center building in the adjacent loading area.
- Return the equipment. Equipment must be returned during our open hours on the designated return date. For a breakdown of how to pack away and transport your equipment, check out our relevant Ask an Expert videos.

Camping & Outdoor Cooking Rental
Prices reflect daily rental fees. For multi-day rentals, the pickup day isn't charged. If you pick up and return on the same day, you'll be charged for a one-day rental.

Watercraft & Dry Storage Pricing
Watercraft packages include personal flotation device (PFD), paddles and transportation solutions are included at no extra charge. Prices reflect daily rental fees. Equipment Rental FAQs
Don't let uncertainty prevent your outing. Check out these common questions about renting gear.
Q: Can I rent equipment if I am not a student?
Yes! UW-Green Bay students receive a discounted rate, but we rent to anyone.
Q: Where am I allowed to use rental equipment?
Anywhere! If the equipment is allowed there by local rules, it's fine with us. Just don't use equipment for other than its intended use. For example—don't take one of our kayaks on whitewater!
Q: How long can I rent equipment?
Outdoor equipment can be rented for up to 31 days.
Q: Can I pick up or return equipment after hours?
No. Equipment must be picked up and returned while we're open. Check UREC Outdoor Adventure Center hours of operation.
Q: Where do I pick up my rental?
We have a loading and unloading area right next to the building. Just navigate to the Shorewood Center, continue through the lot, and use the access road to park right next to the building.
Q: How do I transport equipment like bikes or kayaks?
We provide mounting equipment to transport your watercraft rental. Bike racks can be rented for an additional fee.
Q: Can I paddle in the Bay?
You can! However, we strongly recommend having watercraft meant for big water (minimum 14' in length). You should also have experience paddling big water and knowledge of self rescue techniques. Never paddle alone on big water. Please note that launching watercraft at Lambeau Cottage and Communiversity park is prohibited.
Q: Is there anywhere within walking distance to paddle?
Not currently, the closest launch points into the bay are at the Metro Launch and Eagle's Nest areas.
Q: Are there nearby trails I can bike on?
Yes! You are welcome to bike the on-campus trails of the Cofrin Memorial Arboretum, but please follow their rules and stay off of the bark trails. Baird Creek is also a rideable distance from the Shorewood Center.
