Biography

Rebecca Stone Thornberry is an Associate Professor of Theatre and Women and Gender Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Her teaching and research interests include 19th, 20th, and 21st century U.S. theatre, world theatre, acting, directing, voice for the stage, theatre history, and disability studies. From August 2011- May 2020, she was the Artistic Director of Theatre on the Bay at the UW-Green Bay, Marinette campus. She has directed productions such as The Diary of Anne Frank, Into the Woods, Fuddy Meers, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, An Inspector Calls, All in the Timing, Eurydice, and The Mousetrap. As an actor, favorite roles include "Pearl" in Phyllis Nagy’s The Scarlet Letter, "Olwen" in Dangerous Corner, "Claire" in Fuddy Meers, and "Rachel" in Reckless. She has presented her research at the Mid-America Theatre and Association of Theatre in Higher Education conferences.
