World Language Placement Tests
If you plan to enroll in a French, German or Spanish course at UW-Green Bay and have some familiarity with these languages, we recommend you take the appropriate world language placement test. These optional tests are designed to assess your proficiency and place you in the course that best matches your skill level.
About the Tests
The French, German and Spanish tests are multiple choice exams. They're designed to assess your language skills, not your speed, and provide ample time for completion, with 60 minutes allotted for each test. The tests are in the target language, except for instructions, and are designed for students with varying levels of high school language experience. There are no penalties for guessing, so answer all questions to the best of your ability. Follow the links below for a detailed description of each test and sample questions.
Retroactive Credits
Students who place into certain world language courses may be eligible for retroactive credits upon successful completion of the corresponding UW-Green Bay course. This can provide you with additional credits based on your proficiency level.
