Testing for Current Students
As a current UW-Green Bay student, you have access to placement tests for Math and World Languages (French, German, Spanish) to either improve your scores or prepare for additional coursework. The World Language Placement Tests are optional, but all students are required to take the Wisconsin Mathematics Placement Test (WMPT) unless you've already transferred a college-level math course equivalent to or higher than Math 094, Math 099, Math 100, Busan 220 or Psych 205.
Placement Exams
Math Placement Test
The math placement exam tests your skills, not your speed. Most students have ample time to complete all questions. Topics include math fundamentals, advanced algebra, trigonometry and geometry.
- Length: 90 min.
- Format: Multiple Choice
- Purpose: Math course placement

World Language Test
The French, German and Spanish placement tests assess your language skills with plenty of time for most students to complete all questions. The tests are in the target language, except for instructions, and are designed for students with varying levels of high school language experience. There are no penalties for guessing, so answer all questions to the best of your ability.
- Length: 60 min.
- Format: Multiple Choice
- Purpose: World language placement

Note: Don't take the English Placement Test. UW-Green Bay uses your ACT English or SAT Reading scores for English course placement.
Testing Options
You have two convenient options for placement testing:
1. Online Testing (Unproctored)
Online placement testing is free and available at your convenience for both Math Test A and World Language tests (French, German, Spanish). Register using your UW-Green Bay username and password; if you need assistance, contact the IT Service Desk at 920-465-2309.
Test results are available every Friday, and if you complete testing by Wednesday evening, your scores will be posted in SIS by Friday afternoon. Be sure to follow all instructions carefully and contact your advisor after 7 days to review your placement.
2. Individual In-Person Appointments
Individual in-person placement testing appointments are available upon request for UW-Green Bay students, with a $10 proctoring fee per test, payable in exact cash or by check at the time of testing. This option includes immediate scoring of the exam. Non-UWGB students requesting an individual appointment will be charged $15 per test for Math and English and $10 for World Language testing.
