Advanced Placement (AP)

If you’ve taken Advanced Placement (AP) courses in high school, you could be eligible to earn college credit at UW-Green Bay. By achieving the required scores on your AP exams, you can skip certain college courses and save time and money toward your degree.

What are AP Exams?

An AP exam is a standardized test that allows high school students to demonstrate their knowledge of college-level material. If you score high enough, you can receive college credits for certain UW-Green Bay courses. For more information, visit the College Board's AP student resource site.

  • Graduate faster by earning credits before starting college.
  • Place into advanced courses in subjects that interest you.

AP exam scores translate into specific course credits at UW-Green Bay. For example, score 3 on AP Biology to earn 4 credits for BIOL 201 and 202. Or score 4 on AP Chemistry to earn 5 credits for CHEM 211/213. Use the table below to check how your AP scores translate to UW-Green Bay credits.

Things to Know About AP Credits

  • You cannot earn credit for a course that’s already on your transcript.
  • Retroactive and AP credits may not transfer to other colleges or universities, so always verify transfer policies.
