Sign Language & Captions
The Student Accessibility Services (SAS) office works with students who are deaf and hard of hearing to develop an accommodation plan to ensure they have communication access in the classroom, labs and other instructional environments. SAS coordinates sign language interpreting and captioning services with local, regional and remote professionals for all academic-related activities requested by a student.
Request Services Promptly
All students requesting sign language interpreting and captioning services are strongly encouraged to request services right after registering for their courses. Advance notice will allow for SAS staff to contract with certified professionals.
New Students
Students who are requesting sign language interpreting or captioning services for their courses must complete the application process. For more information on how to apply see Applying for Academic Accommodations.
Returning Students
After students register for UW-Green Bay courses, students should login to GB Access and select their accommodations to allow SAS staff time to secure the services. No services will be secured until a request is made through GB Access.
Request Interpreting or Captioning Services Outside of a Class Schedule
To request an interpreter or captioning services for class-related activities outside of the class schedule, a student can make requests through GB Access.
For other campus activities (student organizations, programs and activities), please contact the organization identified on the event's promotional materials.
Caption Media
Instructors use a variety of videos and media clips both in-class and online. SAS works with instructors and technical staff to ensure they are able to show their videos and media with captions.
