On the Rise
An increase in speakers means an increase in opportunity.
In the U.S., the number of Spanish speakers has increased by 56.5% since 2000. In Wisconsin, the number of Spanish speakers has increased by 46.8% since 2000. The growing number of Spanish-speakers both locally and nationally has significantly increased the need for experts in Spanish—in language and culture. Our program helps you master that. Whether you’re a heritage speaker or learning as a second language, language proficiency as well as knowledge of different cultural norms provides more opportunities for expanding personal and professional networks.

Experience Outside the Classroom
"For me, I learn better not sitting in a classroom. I sought out opportunities, and the Spanish department did a good job to provide them to me to promote both opportunities in the community to get involved to speak Spanish and practice your Spanish outside of the classroom, but also to study and travel abroad."
