How to Find a Psychology Internship:
Internship sites do not need to be in the Green Bay area, but can be located elsewhere in Wisconsin (and beyond). Here are some resources to help you look for an internship:
- Handshake: Leverage UW-Green Bay's online job listing system.
- Your Psychology Internship Coordinator: Look into internship opportunities sent out directly to psychology program students.
- LinkedIn: Search for internships in your area of interest.
- WeCan Find school-based opportunities.
Internship Qualifications
An internship is about 10-12 hours per week per semester, or 150 hours for 3 credits. Internships can be taken for 3 to 12 credits, and count toward your 120 credits needed for graduation. To qualify for a psychology internship, you need to:
- Have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
- Be a junior or senior
- Declared major in psychology
- Get approval from the internship site and the psychology internship supervisor
If accepted to do the internship or hired as an employee, email the psychology internship coordinator the following information:
- Your full name and student ID number
- Email and phone number
- Name of the internship/job site
- A brief description of what you would be doing that is psychology-related
- How many hours you will work on site during the semester
- Your site supervisor’s name, position, email and phone number
Once your internship is approved by the psychology internship coordinator, complete the Internship Form to register for PSYCH 497.
