Chalking on Sidewalks

Chalking on campus sidewalks is restricted to official actions of UW-Green Bay recognized student organizations, academic or administrative unit events, activities or issues. Chalking for these official actions of UW-Green Bay may be done if compliant with the Universities of Wisconsin personal conduct prohibitions (Ch 18.08(9)) and these specifications:  

  • Chalking area may be used for a maximum of eight calendar days.
    • Groups should remove markings, if still present, no later than day eight.
  • Sponsor must be clearly stated in the message.
  • Must at least 15 feet away from any entrance.
  • Must be located outside of any apron, overhang or area that would shelter it from the weather. (Chalkings are expected to be removed with rain/precipitation.)
  • Must not be on any building, sign, structure or wall.
  • Cannot interfere with or overlap another organization or person's chalking.
  • Chalking must be in compliance with the University Alcohol Policy.
  • Chalking is NOT permitted in front of The Weidner.
  • Paint or semi-permanent markings may not be used for surface markings or any type of signage.

The University reserves the right to clean off and remove any chalking which doesn't comply. The person(s) who create such markings are personally subject to enforcement action.
