Security Services
Our University Police Department is proud to protect and be a part of our community. Beyond crime prevention and reporting, University Police serve the UW-Green Bay community by providing event security, caregiver background checks and bicycle licenses and registration. To further support victims of crime, we provide additional resources including access to the VINE system.
Event Security
Upon request, University Police provide police services and traffic control for both small and large events on campus. Events range from a student organization gathering about a controversial topic to a public event such like a presidential visit. With proper advance notice, University Police are able to provide services to both internal and external customers. Event security provides a fully uniformed police officer that can:
- know and access to the campus and buildings
- instantly summon and direct additional resources such as other UW officers or assisting agencies if an incident escalates beyond their control
- summon and direct medical assistance
- notify and engage University leadership in decision-making for incidents that will impact operations
- be in tune with our campus community and understands university policing
Note: Hiring police services DOESN'T relieve any person or organization of the responsibility or necessity of getting University approval for their event.
Event Security Rates
- External Organizations (events that DON'T support University's Mission): $49 per hour, per officer; minimum of 3 billable hours
- Internal Organizations (events that DO support University's Mission): $45 per hour, per officer; minimum of 3 billable hours
- Police Vehicle: $25 Each flat fee, maximum of 4 hours
University Caregiver Background Checks
UW-Green Bay Police can conduct a caregiver background check (CBC) when required for placement of a student in a facility. The current Wisconsin Caregiver Law prohibits all entities associated with the Department of Health and Family Services from employing or contracting with anyone who has been convicted of certain crimes. All students, faculty and staff requiring a CBC as a UW-Green Bay program or course requirement must complete this process through UW-Green Bay. CBCs completed at other facilities may not be accepted as a substitute for this process.
Waiver & background information forms
The licensed facility shall make the final determination as to whether a person is acceptable for placement in their facility.
Individuals
If your employment, internship or other opportunity requires a background check, you must:
- Complete the Wisconsin Department of Justice Criminal History Individual Name Record Request Form and return it to the respective office or program coordinator.
- Complete and sign a waiver agreeing to the release of necessary information to those agencies in possession of information on your criminal history.
Submit payment to UW-Green Bay for the background check, at the current rate provided by University Police.
University Police
Upon receipt of the completed CBC packet of information, we will:
- Request the Criminal History Background Check from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, and any other state if applicable.
- Process the results of the report and conduct any further investigation of any individuals identified with records.
- Run a driver’s license check on each individual, if applicable.
- Provide a report on results of CBCs to requesting units. The report will include a list of applicants with no records and a list of applicants with records.
The licensed facility shall make the final determination as to whether a person is acceptable for placement in the facility under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law. Download waiver & background information formsDownload waiver & background information forms
