Phuture Phoenix
Inspiring 5th Graders
to Rise
Helping local students see college in their future.
High school graduation rates in Northeast Wisconsin have lagged behind State averages, with greater disparities for underrepresented and disadvantaged students. Phuture Phoenix invites Title I schools from northeast Wisconsin to bring their 5th-graders to visit UW-Green Bay. Our goal: to ignite a passion for education and motivate students to complete high school and see college as achievable. If your school is selected, you'll receive an invitation in late April or early May. RSVP promptly to secure your preferred date, as dates are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

What is Phuture Phoenix Day?
After visiting campus, your students leave with a better understanding of their options after high school and the belief that learning is lifelong.
26,000+ Students
Since the program began in 2002, we've inspired 26,000+ 5th graders. Why that age group? Research shows that long-term attitudes toward higher education and life-long learning begin to take shape as early as 5th grade.
Explore Our Campus
Each year, we host thousands of kids from NE Wisconsin schools to tour our campus, connect with UW-Green Bay students and learn about college as a postsecondary option. This isn't a full preview day or an endorsement of four-year college for everyone. Instead, it helps kids see college as a viable option.
Led by Our Students
First and second year UW-Green Bay students who are considering teaching are the leaders of our campus visits. Your students can learn firsthand why their guides chose to attend college and what their career aspirations are.
Phuture Phoenix Scholarships
UW-Green Bay awards both need- and merit-based scholarships. Funding is made possible by the fundraising efforts of the UW-Green Bay Foundation and the generosity of private donors who believe in the value of a UW-Green Bay education. To be considered for any of these UW-Green Bay scholarships, all admitted and current degree-seeking students should log in with their UW-Green Bay username and password and complete the General Application. Students who match criteria for more specific scholarship opportunities will be prompted to complete additional applications. We recommend submitting all application materials by February 15.

Can't Make the Date?
Work with the Admissions Office to schedule a tour to explore campus.
If you want to visit UW-Green Bay, but couldn't attend a Phuture Phoenix campus visit for any reason, our Admissions team provides group tours for kindergarteners all the way to high school seniors. It's a different experience from Phuture Phoenix, but similar premise: your students will learn about UW-Green Bay and begin to view college as an option for their future success.

"We appreciate the opportunity to come to your campus and hear all that UWGB has to offer. We even had some kids go home and tell their parents that they really want to go to college and that UWGB was a great place. I also received positive feedback from some parents who were so happy to hear that their children were thinking about college now where in the past it wasn't as important to them. I think the program you have at UWGB is wonderful and it really does get the kids thinking about their opportunities and possibilities.Thank you! We are so lucky to be able to have UWGB right in our backyard and provide the students with such a unique experience at this age."
