Graphic Design
The UW-Green Bay Office of Marketing and University Communication has an opening for a graphic design intern for the Fall 2024 semester.
The Marketing and University Communication graphic design intern is responsible for proper completion of graphic design and layout assignments. The emphasis of this position will be to design visual materials needed to promote the University, its programs and operations. The graphic design intern will be expected to complete tasks assigned and other duties as assigned by the director of marketing and designers. This is a virtual position, conducted remotely using Microsoft Teams.
Specific responsibilities:
- Conceptualize, design and prepare print, multimedia solutions, graphical elements and other promotional materials.
- Consult with communication/marketing project managers/clients to understand project objectives and recommend successful design solutions.
- Maintain image consistency. Produce designs in compliance with the goals and mission of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and the established image of the University.
- Coordinate a work-project schedule, to efficiently balance individual workload.
- Maintain a file of all original materials developed for the Marketing and University Communication and other clients.
- Consult with the director of marketing, designers, proof reader, print purchasing specialist and clients as needed to coordinate projects, including collecting text, photos and digital assets, critiquing, proofing, and print purchasing.
- Operate Macintosh computer components and software (i.e., scanner, printer, digital camera, etc.)
- Completion of other duties assigned by the director of marketing and designers.
Qualifications and compensation:
Applicant must have artistic skills in design and layout. Computer knowledge (Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop) is highly recommended. This position will provide 10 hours/week ($10-12/hr) during the school year and will be coordinated with the other graphic designer(s). Completion of Graphic Design Studio I & II (DESIGN 331 & 332) and sophomore or junior class standing is desired.
This internship provides the opportunity to learn through real-life experience as part of an online marketing team, build a portfolio and receive mentoring from professional designers.
All Marketing and University Communication student employees are required to take at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits per semester with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
