Lakeshore Big Band
All that Jazz
& More
Our band performs instrumental hits as well as contemporary tunes written in the “big band” style.
In response to the immense popularity of the “big band” music that the wind ensemble performed at its concerts, Michael J. Arendt created the Lakeshore Big Band in 1990. A "big band" consists of ten or more musicians with four sections: saxophones, trumpets, trombones and a rhythm section.

What We Play
The Lakeshore Big Band presents 2 concerts each season.
Our goal is to bring back the wonderful big band sounds of Glenn Miller, the Dorsey’s, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and also timeless classics written by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and other American musical legends. The Lakeshore Big Band also joins the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble for a "pops," a.k.a. popular music concert, in January to play music from the Big Band era to today with hits by Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa!

Meet the Big Band Conductor
Meet Paul Sucherman, conductor of the Lakeshore Big Band. He's worked on a range of musical productions, from cruise ships to Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack show to two Grammy award winning albums. If you have questions about the Lakeshore Big Band, he can help!
