Essential Job Functions

The Austin E. Cofrin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay applicants for a one-year Lecturer in Business Analytics and Decision Sciences. The Cofrin School of Business values university-level teaching experience, the ability to teach a variety of classes related to the candidate's academic field and preparation, engagement in institutional, community, and professional service, and experience working in the world of business. Candidates with any research or teaching experience in the fields of artificial intelligence will be given strong consideration. The successful candidate should have a business background which will be evaluated by both educational attainment and business-related field work experience. The successful candidate will have a business background which will be evaluated by both educational attainment and business-related field work experience.

What You'll Do

  • Teach a normal instructional load of undergraduate courses in Data Science, Business Analytics, Business Statistics, or Decision Sciences (e.g., Management Information Systems, IT management, programming courses for business applications, data visualization, etc.). Courses will be taught both in-person and online and may be taught in any of four other instructional modes (e.g., blended, interactive video). In-person instruction will be primarily on the main campus in Green Bay, but courses may be occasionally taught at our other campus locations.
  • Mentor students to increase professional development, career advancement, and engagement in experiential learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom. 
  • Perform scholarly activities, service, and professional engagement activities consistent with the Cofrin School of Business expectations for a Lecturer.
  • Perform institutional and community service. 
  • Contribute to ongoing development of the Cofrin School of Business and participate in AASCB accreditation efforts.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA or Master's degree in Data Science, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Decision Sciences, IT (with a focus on business applications of IT), or a closely related field from an accredited institution
  • 3 years of business work experience 
  • Knowledge of programming and software like Python and R, along with knowledge of visualization software such as Tableau
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
  • Evidence of engagement in institutional, community, or professional service endeavors

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned doctorate or ABD candidate in Data Science, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Decision Sciences, IT (with a focus on business applications of IT), or a closely related field from an institution supporting an AACSB-accredited business school
  • 5 years of business work experience

Conditions of Appointment

The home campus of this position is Green Bay, and the successful candidate may be required to teach an occasional course at the Sheboygan or Manitowoc Campus.

Position is a full-time, one-academic year, Instructional Academic Staff appointment. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Compensation and Benefits

SALARY INFORMATION

Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
