The minimum amount required to establish a named scholarship fund can be a surprise for some supporters. Only a small number are prepared to make a gift large enough to establish a named fund. Know that every gift matters and your contribution—regardless of the size—helps make a difference. You can always make a positive impact for students when you give to an existing fund.
How to Establish a Scholarship
Your gift to UW-Green Bay makes a profound impact on the lives of our students, faculty and the community. By supporting our university, you are investing in the future.
1 Choose Your Focus
Determine the type of scholarship you want to establish. Scholarships with flexible awarding criteria are the most beneficial to students. Consider the following options and contact us to discuss guidelines and criteria for establishing your scholarship.
Need-Based or Merit-Based:
While merit-based scholarships recognize academic excellence, need-based scholarships can make the biggest difference for students with financial challenges. Need-based scholarships are recommended.
Renewable or One-Time:
A renewable scholarship offers support each year a student remains in good standing, providing ongoing assistance. Renewable scholarships are recommended.
2 Name the Fund
Your scholarship can bear your name, honor a loved one, or reflect your business or professional field. Choose a name that inspires and celebrates student achievement.
3 Contribute to the Fund
The size of your gift will determine the scholarship amount awarded annually. Forward funding your endowment with an additional $1,000 can enable immediate awards.
Annual Scholarship Fund:
Establish your fund with a gift of $10,000 or more, or opt for installments of $2,500 annually over four years. These funds are awarded over a set period and are not invested with the endowment pool.
Endowed Scholarship Fund:
Create a lasting legacy with a gift of $25,000 or more, or make installments of $5,000 annually over five years. Endowed funds are carefully invested, ensuring your scholarship grows and supports students indefinitely. A $50,000 endowed fund typically awards $2,500 annually, with the potential to increase over time.
About Scholarships
At UW-Green Bay, scholarships are more important than ever before. For many talented and gifted people who dream of going to college, the financial resources may not be available to help them make that dream a reality. Thanks to your generosity, the UW-Green Bay Foundation has scholarships available each year to award to students.

- Endowed Professorships (salary support, flexible spending)

- Endowed Programs (research, equipment, travel expenses, monetary awards)
