Student Misconduct Records
- The Dean of Students office is the primary record holder of student misconduct records.
The Dean of Students may release records regarding the student's violation of any Federal, State, or local law, or of any UWGB policy, governing the use or possession of alcohol or a controlled substance if the school determines the student committed a disciplinary violation and the student is under the age of 21. FERPA does not pertain to records held by the UWGB Public Safety department.
After it has been determined a student has violated a policy, a letter is sent to parents if the violation is a first offense for drugs or a second offense for alcohol. The Dean of Students Office reserves the right to make earlier notices if there is a more immediate concern regarding the student’s substance use.
Parents are always welcome to contact the Dean of Students Office if they have general questions about the misconduct process.
- The Dean of Students office may release misconduct records to officials of another school where the student seeks or intends to enroll, or where the student is already enrolled if the disclosure is for purposes related to the student's enrollment or transfer.
