Move More, Sit Less

Good enough is better than none at all.

Give it your all. Or some. Or just a little. No matter what, any movement is good movement. Maybe you just have 10 minutes in between minutes to stretch. Or you use lunch to take a walk. Or you're committed to completing that marathon. Whatever your goals, Exercise is Medicine on our campus aims to promote physical activity as a vital sign of health.

How to Exercise

Move to Get Your Groove Back

It's true what they say: exercise does help you lead a healthy, happy life.

Reduce Depression & Anxiety

Regular physical activity reduces mild to moderate symptoms of depression by 18% and anxiety by 20-30%. Regular physical activity won't totally alleviate depression or anxiety, but a little goes a long way.

Improve Energy, Productivity & Mood

Feeling stuck? Get out and move! Studies show there's a 15-25% improvement in memory, attention and executive functioning, as well as a 30-40% increase in mood.

Focus on Your Physical Health, Too!

As you know, there are physical benefits to physical activity. You can reduce the risk of dementia, heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and 8 types of cancer while also improving your bone health, physical function and quality of life.

Opportunities to Exercise

Check out some ways to get moving on our Green Bay and Manitowoc campuses.

Green Bay Campus

There's no shortage of ways to get moving on the Green Bay campus. Take a hike through beautiful Shorewood Park and the wild Arboretum. In the summer, kayak along the shores of Lake Michigan or snowshoe across a wonderland in the winter through UREC's outdoor rental equipment. Or, use weightlifting equipment and even access a climbing wall at the Kress Events gym!
