About the Earth Caretaker Award

This prestigious award acknowledges UW-Green Bay alumni who have achieved significant and sustained accomplishments in environmental stewardship. From leading the charge in corporate sustainability initiatives to spearheading groundbreaking environmental policy changes, these graduates are leaving a lasting positive impact on the world.

Nomination Criteria

Nominees for the Alumni Earth Caretaker Award must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for selection:

  • Nominee must hold an undergraduate or graduate degree from UW-Green Bay.
  • Nominee cannot have attended UW-Green Bay within the last 10 years.
  • Nominee must have a distinctive and distinguished record of achievement with recognition and reputation extending well beyond the immediate environment in which they live and work.
  • Nominee's record of distinctive achievement should extend over a substantial period of time to assure continuity of performance, stability and maturity.

Nominate an Earth Caretaker

Nominations are accepted year-round through an online nomination form. To be considered for the following year's award, nominations must be submitted by October 31.

Nomination Process

Alumni, friends of the University, faculty/staff, and the public at large are invited to make nominations. The nomination process is simple and can be completed online.  

  • October 31 is the deadline for consideration for the award for the following year.
  • Recipients must attend the awards ceremony held during Earth Week (the week of April 22).
  • One award will be presented each year.

Nominees will be notified and asked to submit some documents. After all the necessary documents have been received, candidates remain active for consideration for a period of three years. Nominees are asked to provide:

  • Letter of application
  • Résumé
  • Any additional documentation they wish to provide including letters of recommendation from others
