Student Teaching
Develop Practical
Skills
Experience outside of our classroom—but within your own.
Teaching is both an art and a science—vibrant and endlessly complex. While we provide the foundational skills in instruction, the real magic happens in a live classroom. Student teaching is the proven way to experience the nuanced responsibilities of a teacher, guided every step by seasoned educators. This isn’t just practice: it’s your opportunity to truly bring learning (and teaching) to life.
Resources for Supervisors
Whether you're a teacher in the community or a faculty member at UW-Green Bay, thank you for helping our students succeed! Access evaluations and handbooks to help you while you host or supervise a student teacher.
Future Student Teachers
Congratulations! You are just about finished with your Education coursework and are ready to begin the process of checking out to student teach.
In order to begin the check-out process, you must attend a student teacher check out meeting with the student teaching coordinator at the beginning of the semester prior to your student teaching semester:
- Spring student teachers must attend a check out meeting the September before student teaching.
- Fall student teachers must attend a check out meeting the February before student teaching.
Documents
You'll need to provide these documents to the student teaching coordinator to check out and secure teaching placement for student teaching.
1 Application & Contract
Please print, read, sign and date the application and contract and the communicable disease statement and bring them along to your check-out meeting with the student teaching coordinator.
2 Data Form & Philosophy Statements
These are used to secure your student teaching placement with area school districts. Before your scheduled check out meeting, please email PDFs of each form to the student teaching coordinator.
3 Placement Confirmation
Once the student teaching coordinator has arranged your student teaching placement(s), the following form must be signed by your cooperating teacher(s) in order to confirm the placement. Please return these signed forms to the student teaching coordinator upon completion.
