Md Golam Sarwar Murshed
Md Golam Sarwar Murshed (he/him/his) is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the Resch School of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, starting from Fall 2023. He holds an MS and Ph.D. from Clarkson University in New York. With an academic and industrial background, Dr. Murshed has made significant contributions to the advancement of deep learning algorithms across various domains, including biometrics, computer vision, and robotics. His research interests primarily revolve around the development of algorithms for efficient and scalable deep learning. One of his achievements includes the introduction of the Oriented Regional Proposal Network (O-RPN) to address a critical challenge in deep learning: detecting oriented objects with high precision. His pioneering work led to the creation of the CRFSEG (Clarkson Rotated Fingerprint Segmentation) system, an advanced deep learning-based model that accurately localizes and classifies slap fingerprints of different orientations.
Dr. Murshed possesses extensive industrial experience as a Lead Software Engineer at Samsung R&D Institute of Bangladesh for five years. This background allows him to bring a rich blend of academic and industrial expertise to his work.
