Organic Chemistry Bootcamps

Complete your organic CHEM labs in an accelerated two week format.

Even if you're not a UW-Green Bay student, these courses are accepted and approved by all other accredited universities. For example, if you’re an athlete and/or a student with heavy class loads like pre-professional majors in medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, pharmacy or chiropractic, these bootcamps are made for you.

Organic Chemistry Bootcamps

UW-Green Bay’s CHEM 304 and 305 and CHEM 306 are equivalent to UW Madison’s CHEM 344. Courses are filled on a first come, first serve basis. Tuition must be paid in full by deadline to hold your spot. No refunds will be issued once boot camps begin. REGISTER EARLY, LIMITED SEATS AVAILABLE.

CHEM 304 and/or 305 (1 Credit each)

CHEM 304 Organic Lab I and CHEM 305 Organic Lab II courses cover basic and intermediate synthesis, purification and instrumental techniques in organic chemistry. If you're interested in enrolling in CHEM 304, you should have already completed Organic Chemistry I lecture (CHEM 302 or equivalent). If you're interested in enrolling in CHEM 305, you should have already completed Organic Chemistry II lecture (CHEM 303 or equivalent) or have instructor’s permission. 

CHEM 304: January 7-10, 2025, 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
CHEM 305: January 13-17, 2025, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

CHEM 306 (2 credits)

The boot camp for CHEM 306 will cover basic laboratory techniques for organic chemistry including commonly used synthetic methods, purification and characterization of reaction products. If you're interested in enrolling in CHEM 306 boot camp, you're expected to demonstrate an understanding of all lab techniques, reactions and instruments, regardless of prior exposure in lecture courses. You also should have completed general chemistry lecture and lab courses. In addition, it's highly recommended that you've successfully completed both Organic Chemistry I and II lecture courses before taking this boot camp.

FAQs

Here are answers to common questions about the bootcamps. 

304 and 305 combined are equivalent to 306. We split 306 into two courses (304 and 305) to allow students to take either the first or second organic chemistry lab separately. While there may be slight differences in the experiments depending on the professor, the overall experience and course outcomes are the same. 304/305 is offered in Green Bay, while 306 is offered in Manitowoc.

The full payment is due one month before the course starts. If you do not make the payment by this deadline, you will not be enrolled in the course.

We offer room blocks at local hotels and on-campus housing at UW-Green Bay. Once you are registered, we will provide more information on housing options.
