Dementia for Caregivers

This is a fully virtual, self-paced course. All too often caregivers make a challenging situation worse because they do not have the skills needed to help individuals with cognitive deficiencies. Each interactive module will identify communication skills that will improve interactions with residents, especially those who have had past traumatic experiences. Take your Dementia Care knowledge and experience to the next level with this three-hour course. This course has been approved for 3 continuing education hours.

Notes of Compassion: Using Music to Improve Dementia Care

This course examines how music improves the quality of life for individuals with dementia and benefits caregivers, offering research-based strategies and practical tools for effective integration into care practices. Caregivers will be equipped with tools to identify individual music preferences and implement realistic ways to incorporate music into daily care routines.

National Respite Care Provider Training

The Respite Care Provider Training (RCPT) is designed for people interested in providing respite care to individuals with varying disabilities and ages across the lifespan. It is an entry-level training program suitable for individuals who have never provided respite before and individuals who are currently respite providers. Learners can work at their own pace to complete the ten required online courses, stopping and starting as needed.

Community Health Worker Training

The Community Health Worker (CHW) Training has clear objectives for participants to demonstrate the following skills upon training completion:

  • Describe the role of a CHW
  • Describe a healthy community and the factors affecting its health 
  • Explain the implications of health statistics to community health and development 
  • Discuss & apply the strategies/approaches necessary to educate members of the community
  • Serve as part of a health care team in service to individuals and families in the community
  • Demonstrate acquired knowledge, skills and behaviors of a CHW.

Universal Skillbuilding

American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED

For anyone who needs a CPR AED course completion card for their job, regulatory or other requirements; or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. You will learn to perform CPR and use an AED for adults and relief of choking, with optional modules for children and infants. American Heart Association certification eCard provided.

CARE U for Direct Care Staff

Free CARE U conferences provide education for certified nursing assistants, personal care workers and other direct care staff who work with older adults. Caring Across Cultures

This free training is designed to be used by employers (individuals with disabilities or older adults receiving community-based long-term care services) and their direct care workers. They will also be of value to family members or advocates and provider agencies, including Family Care MCOs and IRIS Consultant Agencies. While each party can benefit from the information and activities, the most valuable value will be derived from the two parties, both learning the content and jointly engaging in the activities.
