Consultations
The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) is proud to offer our comprehensive consultation service, designed to support both new and veteran instructors in their professional and pedagogical development. This non-evaluative offering provides a range of potential services, including peer observations, educational technology training, personalized feedback sessions, elemental reviews, and professional coaching. By participating in these confidential consultations, instructors will gain valuable insights into their teaching methods, receive constructive feedback, and engage in meaningful professional growth opportunities. You don't have to be experiencing a problem or issue to seek a consultation; in fact, many award-winning instructors regularly seek CATL's services to enhance their instructional practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Teaching & Learning is a big tent, so CATL is here to help! This page is just the tip of the iceberg, but it's designed to showcase our services and to get you started as you navigate all that we have to offer based on the stage of a course you're developing, where you are on your journey as an instructor, or your role at UWGB. We also invite you to stop by CATL's Teaching Toolbox for asynchronous resources or simply explore some topics below.
types of consultations
Individual
The primary way we conduct consultations is to individually meet with instructors, offering perspective, advice, and suggestions based on best practices. Consultations look at teaching and learning at any level: materials, technologies, assignments, courses, or programs.
Small Group & Departmental
Departmental consultations are a collaborative endeavor where CATL experts work with programs to enhance teaching strategies, creation of learning outcomes, and curriculum design. These aim to align departmental goals with institutional priorities, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
College Drop-in Hours
With drop-in hours, we bring our services directly to you. During the semester, one of our CATL staff members holds drop-in hours for 2 hours per week in each of the four colleges on the Green Bay campus. In addition to these on-campus hours, we are also offering virtual drop-in hours on Zoom. No appointment needed!
