Missing a Course?

If a course doesn’t appear in your Canvas dashboard, it may not be published yet. Check with your instructor or refer to our missing course guide for more information on what to expect after enrolling in or dropping classes.

Canvas Mobile App

While the Canvas Student mobile app is a helpful tool for staying on top of updates and checking in on your courses, it’s best used as a supplement rather than your main platform for coursework. To make the most of your UW-Green Bay courses, we recommend using Canvas on a laptop or desktop for a full, distraction-free view of course materials, videos, and assignments.

Download on the Apple App Store
Get it on Google Play
Access all of your favorite courses and groups, view all of your upcoming to do items, view your grades using the new app widget

What the Mobile App is Great For:

  • Quick Access to Grades: Check your grades on the go and stay updated on instructor feedback.
  • Viewing Announcements: Catch up on important updates and announcements from your instructors.
  • Tracking Due Dates: Easily view assignment and quiz deadlines and get reminders.
  • Participating in Discussions (Short Replies): Quick replies in discussions are fine, but for lengthy or detailed posts, a laptop or desktop is a better choice.

What to Avoid on Mobile:

  • Assignments & Discussions: The app is not ideal for typing long responses, composing essays or creating projects. Use a full keyboard and larger screen for a smoother experience.
  • Submitting Assignments: Some submissions may require specific tools or settings not fully supported in the app.
  • Quizzes & Exams: Always use a computer for quizzes, exams and any graded activities. Completing these on a laptop or desktop ensures a smoother experience and reduces the risk of distraction and technical issues.

Other Support Contacts

Need help with another instructional tool in the Digital Learning Environment? Use this list to find out about the best places to get support for a specific tool. If you can't find your tool on this list and don't know where to go, please contact the GBIT Service Desk or 920-465-2309. An IT technician will point you in the right direction or route your question to the right team. Check the operational status of Canvas and other learning tools on our Outages & Updates page.

Kaltura (Video Tools)

Kaltura is a suite of video tools that can be used to create and share videos. My Media, Course Media Galleries, Video Quizzes and Kaltura Capture are all tools that are included in the greater Kaltura suite. Kaltura is the most common way that videos are created and shared in UWGB Canvas courses. Answers to common questions can be found on the UKnowIT KnowledgeBase. Technical support questions should be directed to the IT Service Desk.

Zoom (Virtual Meetings)

The Universities of Wisconsin Zoom contract includes "Premiere+" support which allows all end users to receive prompt support via the Zoom Help Center. Students can submit a Zoom support request through the web form or start a support chat by clicking the chat bubble icon that is visible in the bottom-right corner of the page while logged in to the Universities of Wisconsin Zoom web portal. Zoom support chats start with an AI chat bot, but if the guidance offered by the bot does not help you resolve the issue immediately, you can indicate that the bot isn't helpful to be quickly connected with a live support agent.

PlayPosit (Interactive Video)

UWGB staff maintain PlayPosit student guide articles on the UKnowIT KnowledgeBase. PlayPosit help articles and resources for students can also be found on PlayPosit's Knowledge website. PlayPosit support can be contacted by filling out the Help Line form on the vendor's website.

Hypothesis (Collaborative Notes)

Hypothesis is a collaborative annotation tool integrated with Canvas that supports shared annotations within a course, discussion in response to annotations and active reading of text. Access guides on using Hypothesis in Canvas from UW-Green Bay and the Hypothesis help site. For additional help, fill out a request form on Hypothesis’s website.

Honorlock (Online Proctoring)

Students can get immediate support while taking an Honorlock-enabled exam by accessing the live chat option available within the exam or via the live chat link found on the Honorlock support website. An overview guide for students is available on the Honorlock Help Center website. Additional information regarding the use of Honorlock at UWGB is available in the Honorlock User Guide for Students article on the UknowIT KnowledgeBase.UWGB Guide

Microsoft 365

UWGB IT is the primary point of support for Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint and OneDrive. The UKnowIT KnowledgeBase contains several articles to help you learn and use Microsoft 365 apps. Technical issues and questions can be sent to the GBIT Service Desk.

SIS & Email

While other services like SIS and Email are not directly a part of the LMS, they are certainly a part of the ecosystem known as the "DLE" (Digital Learning Environment). For technical assistance, GBIT is the best place to start.
