Staff from the Oneida Nation and UW-Green Bay will lead campers on a journey to explore the amazing and beautiful natural world! During the first and last days of this 3-day camp, students will hike to marshes, grasslands, and forests on Oneida Nation land and discover plants, birds, bugs, frogs, and other wildlife at two key sites Oneida has restored from agricultural lands. Students will participate in scavenger hunts, search for and identify wildlife, and gain hands-on experiences with nature. A valued Oneida Cultural Leader will also take campers on a cultural and spiritual journey, helping campers reconnect with nature and Oneida culture. On the second day, campers will visit the UW-Green Bay campus, making stops at the First Nations Department to meet Indigenous professors, the Richter Museum of Natural History and Fewless Herbarium to gain hands-on experience handling animal and plant specimens, and the Cofrin Memorial Arboretum to explore its natural features, plants, and animals. We hope you join us for this well-rounded camp that will leave 4th–6th graders wanting to learn more about the natural world!
