The genus Huperzia
(included in the genus Lycopodium in many older manuals):
4 species
1. Leaves obovate, broadest at the middle or beyond.
This is a common and widespread species, mostly growing on soil
(if on rocks usually in pockets of soil or accumulated dead leaves).
1. Leaves lanceolate, widest at the base, or the sides of the
leaf nearly parallel throughout most of the length. These are
all rare species in Wisconsin, mostly growing on rocks and each
is restricted to a relatively small portion of the state.
