Course Description
In this training, we will explore ways that DBT can be tailored or contextualized in order to meet the needs of our LGBTQ+ clients. We will discuss minority stress theory and how it aligns with DBT's biosocial theory.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will learn ways to maintain treatment fidelity while meeting the needs of LGBTQ+ clients
- Participants will understand how minority stress theory fits with biosocial theory in DBT
- Participants will describe how minority stress may relate to emotion dysregulation and related difficulties
- Participants will apply existing DBT skills to the needs of LGBTQ+ clients
