Course Description
This 2-part training will focus heavily on the individual therapy component of Adolescent Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT-A). An overview of how to conduct DBT therapy with teens will be explored, including guidance on how to apply the many DBT strategies within individual sessions. How to approach common therapy interfering behaviors with teens will also be discussed, along with common challenges relate to include family in treatment. Case examples and roleplays will be utilized to assist with illustrating and learning the content.
Learning Objectives:
• Strategies for building motivation and commitment with teens and their families during the intake process.
• How to prioritize what behaviors to treat when many problems exist.
• How to apply individual treatment strategies from standard DBT to teen population and the unique challenges that can arise.
• Strategies for problem solving therapy interfering behaviors that are common when working with teens.
• Considerations for conduction phone coaching with teens.
• Strategies for including family members in treatment.
About Your Trainer
Henry Boeh, PhD
Henry Boeh is a Licensed Psychologist who earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Marquette University. He trained as a student at the Center for Behavioral Medicine for two years, and is very happy to be back as part of the treatment team. Henry is passionate about Dialectical Behavior Therapy and providing the best quality care possible. He strives to work as a team with clients to help them achieve their goals and make changes previously seen as impossible. Henry is a Certified DBT Clinician through the Linehan Board of Certification™.
