Trails in the Arboretum

Over 7 Miles
of Trails

Designed for research and education.

Make sure your laces are tight! Our Arboretum is all about providing opportunities for our community and campus to learn and explore. The trails are intended for research and education, so you might find some paths a bit muddy and uneven—perfect for those who love a bit of adventure! If you prefer more manicured trails, head over to Shorewood Park. Whether you're here to study or just enjoy nature, you can escape the city and get away from it all just minutes from campus.

Advancing Technology, Minimizing Impact

American Transmission Company (ATC) is upgrading underground transmission lines on the UW-Green Bay campus. While this requires disturbance within the Arboretum, we have worked with ATC to minimize the long-term impacts of the disturbance, including scheduling work to lessen effects on migratory birds and pollinators, using underground boring (rather than trenching) through a large portion of Keith White Prairie, adjusting the placement of the line to avoid sensitive plant species and planning post-project restoration work. The work is expected to be done by 2026.

Choose Your Adventure

Whether you're a seasoned hiker or casual walker, we've got something for you. Parking is available at Shorewood Park, but in the warmer months there is also parking at Communiversity Park and Lambeau Cottage.

Trek Through Our Wild Spaces

Just minutes from the city and campus, you can explore the loops of the Arboretum. From the stunning cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment to the wide-open spaces of Keith White Prairie, there's so much to see. Bring a friend (but no dogs, please!) or just walk with your thoughts.

Go on a Leisurely Stroll

If you're up for a more manicured trail, turn to Shorewood Park. Enjoy 5K, 6K and 8K routes that weave through beautiful Oak Savanna and 8-acres of native prairie plantings recently installed by students and staff. If someone yells duck, listen—the park features a disc golf course, so please be aware of your surroundings!
