FAQs for Families
Frequently Asked
Questions
Many family of admitted students have questions about starting at UW-Green Bay. Take a look at a few of the most common questions.
When does my student register for fall classes?
Students will register for classes during their GB Orientation process. All first-year students will register in person during their one-day program. All transfer students should schedule a one-on-one appointment with a professional advisor to register. Please have your student visit their Wings portal to sign up for orientation.
Is it still an option to live on campus?
Yes! Students who choose to live on the Green Bay campus enjoy safe, conveniently located housing at an affordable price which includes all utilities, free laundry, high-definition cable TV and high-speed Internet access in every room. More importantly, life on campus also means being able to build life-long friendships with others and taking advantage of a variety of programs, services and leadership involvement opportunities. Housing contracts can be signed here.
What do on-campus activities look like?
We are excited to engage students in entertaining, creative, and inclusive programs and events for students to get connected, explore their interests, and create their own unique college experience. Some of our most popular programs are UWGB Nites, OrgSmorg, and Trivia, along with take and make crafts, virtual events, and more. Whether you're looking to make friends, have fun, or gain new experiences our Student Life Team is here for you.
What other items should my student be doing?
In the Wing's Portal, your student can review all of their next steps, including:
- Tell us they are "committed" and plan to attend UW-Green Bay
- Contract for Housing (select "Contract Online)
- Complete the FAFSA
- Apply for scholarships
- Sign up for GB Orientation
- Register for Wisconsin Math Placement Test (beginning 3/15)
