Shrubs of Wisconsin

Rosa setigera Michx.
climbing prairie rose
Family: Rosaceae
styles
plant flower sepals styles united to form a column raised above the hypanthium leaf thorns

Rosa setigera is probably not native to Wisconsin, and even the few documented locations might represent planted individuals that have persisted and spread locally. The sepals are entire margined or nearly so and the styles are united into a clear column rising above the hypnathium and comparable in height to the stamens (see above for illustrations). The leaves are usually comprised of 3 leaflets.
