Shrubs of Wisconsin

Ribes odoratum H.Wendl.
golden currant
Family: Grossulariaceae
branch leaves flower

Ribes odoratum is a shrub with alternate, simple, palmately lobed leaves. The most conspicuous feature of the flower is the long, yellow, tubular calyx with yellow lobes. Petals are attached to the innner surface of the calyx tube and may be overlooked in a quick observation.

It is primarily a horticultural species, long persistent at abandoned home sites and perhaps rarely escaping.
