| Amelanchier
sanguinea is a shrub, often most numerous in dry, sunny sites although
it is found in a variety of habitats. It is characterized by large white
petals and coarsely toothed leaves in which the veins tend to be straight
and to run only to the main teeth. As is the case with most juneberries,
individuals plants can be difficult to identify. The reader is advised
to consult the major botanical manuals for this region for more information
before placing confidence in the identities of juneberry species.
Amelanchier sanguinea is found throughout Wisconsin, but is most common on sandy or thin soils.
