4. Fertile and sterile fronds arising separately
from a rhizome or caudex; mature sterile fronds longer than 50 cm. Do
not mistake some species of Botrychium, which produce a separate
fertile branch near ground level. Careful examination will reveal that
they are not separate fronds, and the blades are mostly shorter than 30
cm. |
