Diversity and Inclusion
Our Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Statement
We at the Cofrin Center for Biodiversity have a longstanding history of conserving and protecting the diversity of flora and fauna across the Great Lakes region and beyond. Our commitment to preserving natural biodiversity also extends to promoting and celebrating the diversity of human beings. Like plants, fungi, and animals, people are incredibly diverse and vary in terms of appearance, background, perspective, and lifestyle. We are committed to respect, include, and welcome all people to our Center regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, culture, physical or mental ability, socioeconomic status, national or ethnic origin, citizenship, politics, or veteran status.
We strive towards promoting a collaborative work environment where everyone feels welcome, safe, included, and equal. Just as biodiversity promotes healthy ecosystems, human diversity strengthens the world in which we live and gives us the best chance of preserving all life on Earth.
