Student Login & Email
All students are given a campus network account which is used to access campus technology resources. Username and password information is provided in the acceptance letter. The same username and password is used to access SIS, Canvas, Outlook (email) and other technology.
Username
Usernames consist of the first four characters of your last name, your first name initial, middle name initial and the two-digit day of your birth date. For example, Mary Kay Jones’s birthday is May 4th. Her username would be jonemk04. (There are occasional exceptions to this syntax. Contact GBIT for assistance).
Password
When you are admitted, a default password is generated to help you get logged in for the first couple of times. Once you have had a chance to log in, we recommend setting up the self-service password tool. You'll reset your password from the default, as well as at least every 180 days as passwords will expire.
Your default password is the capitalized first letter of your last name, followed by the pound sign and phx (#phx) and then your 9-digit Campus Identification number.
Change Password
Forgot Password?
If you no longer remember your password or your password has expired, you may be able to reset it yourself if you set up the self-service password tool. If you have not done that, you must contact GBIT during business hours for help accessing your account.
Student Information System - SIS
You'll rely heavily on the Student Information System (SIS) to:
- Register for and add or drop classes.
- View class schedules, grades and degree progress reports.
- Print transcripts.
- Access other academic and financial information including making payments and checking on financial aid status.
Online Learning - Canvas
Canvas is the digital learning environment used for discussions, readings and quizzes, supporting the in-class experience. Canvas is also used to access online courses.
