Forge a Better
Future
Our program is molded to fit your individual goals and lifestyle.
We firmly believe that environmental policy must be based on good science, but also that environmental science is ineffective unless it can be translated into sound policy decisions. This master's program is uniquely and highly integrated within community, leading to research projects in both terrestrial and aquatic environments. In our program, you'll focus on developing skills to identify and analyze environmental issues, and develop innovative, interdisciplinary approaches and solutions to problems.

Our graduates have entered into careers where they can enact tangible change and directly improve their communities.
Boost Your Earnings
You’re making a direct investment in your career—in fact, the average salary increase with a graduate degree is about 20%.
Location is Key
Be hands on in local organizations and UW-Green Bay’s natural areas.
Through partnerships with local organizations, you’ll find project-based internship experiences that can be leveraged for future opportunities in the Great Lakes region and beyond. You’ll interact directly with experts, doing lab and field research. Some of this hands-on experience can be done in UW-Green Bay’s natural areas, located across Brown, Manitowoc, Forest and Door counties.
Custom Design Your Grad Program
With both degree tracks and areas of emphasis, earning your degree is almost like a choose-your-own adventure. You don't need to select your track and emphasis at the time of application; this can happen after starting and can be changed at any point.
Degree Tracks
Think of choosing your degree track as how you learn. You'll first choose your degree track before you choose your area of emphasis. Each track represents a different progress to your degree.
Areas of Emphasis
Think of your area of emphasis as what you learn. Different skills and concepts are developed in each emphasis.
Protecting the Environment
“I grew up spending a lot of time outside and have a great appreciation for the natural world...I wanted to do my part to protect what we have for future generations. Getting this degree was a great step toward being able to actually make some positive change in a world that's changing quite a lot."
