Recent Student Intern Projects
EMBI facilitates internships across a wide array of sectors and industries including municipalities, healthcare, environmental advocacy groups, energy, agriculture, food production, recycling and more. Each category presents unique business needs and environmental impacts, providing interns with diverse learning opportunities while helping the organizations they serve become more sustainable. Past EMBI intern projects have delivered substantial value to our partners. Some larger projects have more than one student assigned. Read on for a sampling of recent EMBI intern projects.
Municipalities
Municipalities tackle urban challenges with unique environmental concerns, fostering sustainable development and resource management. Interns have assisted in various municipal projects, such as aiding the Environmental Planning Committee in Port Washington and supporting special projects in the Community Development Department of Menasha.
- Appleton Wastewater Treatment Plant - Capital project to address high and low strength waste unloading congestion
- City of Menasha - Assist with special projects in the Community Development Department
- City of Neenah - Work on Bike Friendly Community application and research CO2 reduction initiatives
- City of Port Washington - Assist the Environmental Planning Committee and develop sustainability projects
- Village of Allouez - Development of a village farmers market
Healthcare
Healthcare facilities strive for eco-friendly practices, balancing patient care with energy efficiency and waste reduction efforts.
- Aurora BayCare Medical Center - Assist with the development of energy efficiency projects & chair the energy team
- Bellin Health - Documentation and development of healthcare sustainability initiatives / energy efficiency
